Hello, my name is Bobby Rubio. I currently work at Pixar Animation Studios as a Story Artist. I worked on the animated feature "Up" and on the animated short "Tokyo Mater." After hours, I work on my creator-owned comics: "Alcatraz High" and "4 Gun Conclusion." I have worked for Nickelodeon on "Avatar the Last Airbender" as an Assistant Director and Storyboard Artist, and at Disney Feature Animation as a traditional animator on such films as "Treasure Planet" and "Tarzan." I've also worked in comics for Wildstorm and Dark Horse. For more information please visit my website: [link]

Thanks,
Bobby

UP on DVD

Sun Nov 8, 2009, 1:12 PM
So the UP dvd is being released this tuesday! I'm really excited because UP was my first Pixar movie that I worked on. I was just thinking back to my start at Pixar...

Nearly 3 years ago I was storyboarding on Avatar the Last Airbender and I had just got word that Pixar liked my portfolio and wanted to hire me. I was thrilled about the opportunity and bummed that if I would take the job, I would miss out on finishing the Avatar series. We were half way through the third season. (I just found out that if I had finished the series, I would have gotten those cool bobble heads too, ARRRGH!)

But the cool thing was that I was going to Pixar and I had heard that they were working on a Robot project. And you can probably tell by my work that I LOVE robots. I knew that the combination of Pixar and robots were going to be phenomenal. Later that day, I called up my buddy and he had told me that there were TWO projects Pixar was currently working on. One, was the robot movie and the other was a story about an old man and a Korean wilderness ranger...

ROBOTS or Old man movie...

Then, I heard that the Old man movie was Pete Doctor and Bob Peterson's project and that Ronnie Del Carmen was head of Story. I immediately began to love the idea of working on the Old man movie. And when I saw the story reels for the first time, I knew the movie was going to be amazing.

I had a great time working on UP and I am so happy and proud to be a part of that movie.

As for the Robot movie, I did get to work on Wall-E for a week. A week is not enough time to get movie credit, which is totally understandable.

Although, my newborn twin boys: Alexander and William did get screen credit under Production Babies. So my boys got Pixar screen credit before I ever did.

Of course Wall-E turned out to be awesome. C'mon, it was Pixar doing robots, how could it go wrong? And I am so thrilled that UP was also awesome and incredibly successful, not bad for a movie about an old man and Korean wilderness ranger.

Go out and buy it this tuesday! I'm probably gonna buy a few myself, gotta stock up for Christmas!
